Computer Keyboarding (1 semester) Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

This course is designed for beginning typists only.  The main focus is to develop proficiency in the fluent manipulation of the keyboard by “touch” so that the student can use the computer keyboard and its associated word processing software as a communication tool for personal, scholastic, and business use.

In addition, this course introduces the student to the proper formatting for personal and business communications.  File management is an inherently integral part of all these processes and students are instructed in managing files and folders.  Fundamentals of using spreadsheet and database software are introduced.

The Computer Keyboarding course meets the COMPUTERS requirement for graduation.

Accounting (2 semesters) Grades 11 and 12

This course will give students a thorough background in the basic accounting procedures needed to operate a business. The accounting procedures presented serve as a sound background for employment in office jobs and preparation for studying business courses in college. A complete accounting cycle is covered for a service business organized as a sole proprietorship and a merchandising business organized as a partnership and a corporation. (College Prep)  Fulfills G requirements. 

Economics(1 semester) Grade 12

The economics course provides students with the opportunity to learn about the American free enterprise system and explore their roles as citizens, producers and consumers.  Key economic concepts, including supply and demand, inflation, unemployment, recession, depression, money and GDP are studied.  Application of the concepts taught is integral to this course and is demonstrated in areas of personal finance/investment and entrepreneurship.  Fulfills G requirements
